John Merten
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
As founder and CEO of Unboxed Strategic Finance, John is responsible for the overall vision, strategy and growth of the firm. He oversees or works on every client engagement to ensure high-caliber execution and consistency within our practice.
John brings deep expertise in strategic finance with an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and 15 years of progressive financial leadership in strategy, financial planning and analysis, treasury, corporate finance and investor relations.
Prior to founding Unboxed Strategic Finance, John led treasury and investor relations for a market-leading, $8 billion market-cap, global consumer services company and led corporate finance, investor relations and treasury for a $5 billion market-leading distribution and manufacturing PE portfolio company.
He has significant business transaction and capital markets experience, including large, multimillion-dollar acquisitions, multibillion-dollar debt refinancing, $2.6 billion capital restructuring and a successful $700 million IPO. His extensive experience driving profitable growth and revenue generation through analysis, strategic planning and execution has generated significant returns for investors and increases to company market value. He is known for being entrepreneurial, hardworking and a positive influencer with a history of leading innovation and improvement.
John is an avid believer in total body health, including mind, body, spiritual and mental health. In his free time, you will find him spending time with his family, connecting with nature, reading, exercising and enjoying yoga.
